2010!  A new year.  A new beginning.  New dreams, new goals, new aspirations.  A new chance for financial freedom.

What IS financial freedom?  You can ask several people that question and you will get several answers, all of which will be correct.  The definition is determined by what people perceive as financial freedom.  Financial freedom can be the ability to afford lavish vacations, expensive cars, jewelry or palatial homes.  Or financial freedom can allow you to pay off all your outstanding debts; credit cards, mortgage, accumulated medical expenses, and then have plenty of money left for the luxuries.

What is your definition of financial freedom?  Whatever your definition is, you have the ability and the chance to make it happen in 2010.  This is YOUR time to turn your financial world around in your favor.  Picture in your mind what financial freedom means to you and go for the brass ring!

OK.  You’ve made the decision to start off the new year with a home based business.  You’ve discovered your big WHY; set goals, and you now wonder;  “What tools do I need to build my home business?”    The answer is: Keep it simple!

The basic business success tools  are simple.  In this day and age of electornics and technology, a computer (laptop or desktop) is advantageous.  However, I have known many people working a home based business that do not own a computer and have been successful in their endeavors anyway.  It’s just a lot more effort without a computer. 

A phone with long distance service.  To duplicate your “simple” business, you’ll be using the phone as the major contact device.  Check with your phone service provider for availablity of “flat rate” long distance.  If your provider does not have a flat rate, many other long distance providers do.  That helps keep your overhead cost down.

Depending on the company you work with in your home business, many of them have brochures, audio CDs or online informational videos to inform your prospects of the goods and opportunity you are offereing.  Some of these tools are free and some have a minimal  cost.

A list of prospects; people you want to share your products and opportunity information with.  This can be your “warm market” (people you already know) or “cold market” (people you haven’t met but who want information).

And last, an appointment/organizer system to keep track of people you’ve spoken to,  follow-up appointments and notes on your daily activites.  Again, keep it simple.  You don’t need anything eleaborate; just a basic appointment book or tablet of paper, as long as you can stay organized.

If you are considering a business working from home to start the new year, there are a few things you need to think about to help you begin successfully.  Let me share some business success ideas to get you off on the right foot.

First of all, consider and pinpoint your big WHY.  Why do you want to work a business from home?  What is your passion?  What is your desire?  What provokes your emotional drive?  It can be one or more reasons, but whatever your “big why”, you must feel the passion and strong desire, and it must be VERY specific, not just a general statement.  Peel back the layers and find out exactly what it is you REALLY want.   When do you want to achieve that?  What are you willing to do to make it happen?  What is it you don’t have in your life right now that you just have to have in your life today, and in the future?

Next, you must BELIEVE that it is possible!  Picture in your mind what it will be like to achieve your big why, as if it’s already happened.  Know that you KNOW it has happened, and it will. 

 And last, you must take the LEAP OF FAITH.  Don’t over-analyze the whole idea of a business from home.  As a famous shoe company puts it, “Just Do It!”  Don’t worry that you don’t know everything about a home business; you can begin with  basic knowlege and learn as you go and be successful, as long as you know what direction you are going.

As we close out the year 2009, we reflect back on our lives during this last year.  In general, 2009 has been a difficult year in many aspects for many of us.  However, in each life, there are the bright spots; the joys, the accomplishments, the pleasant memoires; weddings, births, graduations, promotions, celebrations.

This is also a time to reflect on the things that may not have gone well in our lives this last year.  But even though these occurrances may not be pleasant to remember, we realize also, that a new year is just on the brink of beginning.  It’s a new year, a new beginning; a time to start over again, to set new goals, to learn from past mistakes and live life in a new and different way and turn any negatives from this last year into positives for 2010.  We start a new year with a clean slate, ready for the chapters of the new year to be written by us, for our destiny.

This is a time to begin again, to dream our dreams for the future.  What are your dreams?  Do you want to mend relationshsips?  Do you want to take up a new hobby?  Do you want to serve your community by giving of your time to others in need?  Do you want to travel to exotic places you’ve never seen before?  Or do you want to climb out from the debt?

Many people today are looking for alternative money sources.  There are many different avenues you can take.  But when considering whether to seek another job in the traditional work place, you may want to first consider a home based business.  There is a myriad of home based businesses available depending on your interest and expertise.

Today’s economy has wreaked havoc on the work force and the job market.  People who have worked for years, or sometimes decades, never know if they will find the dreaded “pink slip” on their desk the next time they go to work.  And, if not the pink slip, you may find out in a department meeting that your work hours are being cut.  So now, the J.O.B. The holiday season is an exciting time of activites; parties, gift exchanges, decorating and shopping, just to name a few.  If you’re like most people, you don’t budget during the year for the Christmas season, so you probably don’t have the cash on hand for all those extra activities and gifts.
