No matter what time of year you take your vacation, to go to one of the many Bahamas vacation destinations is like a dream come true.  The Bahamas is one of the best vacation destinations, with some major popular tourist spots available to suit just about any interest.  And contrary to popular belief, it may not be as expensive as you think to plan a trip to the Bahamas.

The two main islands are New Providence Island and Grand Bahama Island with about 11 smaller islands, also with prime vacations spots.  With temperate weather, beautiful crystal clear blue water and endless white sand beaches, it all adds up to a vacation that will be memorable and just can’t be beat.

The Bahamas are easily accessible by plane or by cruise ship.  If you take a plane, it’s a short flight from Florida directly to your Bahamas destination.  If you take a cruise to the Bahamas, you’ll cruise from Florida to one of the most popular cruise ship destinations; Nassau.

Whatever your interests, the Bahamas can accommodate you.  If you want to relax and sunbathe, there are endless beaches that you can take advantage of, where the white sand beach melts into the cooling, clear blue water.  For the golfer, there are several world class golf courses available.  Or if you want some gaming action, there are casinos that rival the best in Las Vegas.

You’ll find the people of the Bahamas to be friendly and helpful.  You can’t leave the Bahamas without shopping for some of the abundant hand made wares.

Whether it’s your first Bahamas vacation or not, you owe it to yourself to relax and enjoy a premier vacation in the Bahamas.  You won’t regret it and will probably plan to return again.

Vacations in Paris Are A Must

If you’re considering a trip to Europe, one of the top desitinations is Paris, France.  And vacations in Paris will give you a wealth of place to see and things to do.  Paris is the capital city of France and is a mixture of culture, history, elegance and modern times.  There is so much to offer visitors that it’s no wonder a universal tourist attraction.

One place you must see while in Paris is the Eiffel Tower.  It was built in 1889 for the World’s Fair and at that time, was the tallest building in the world.  You can take an elevator to the top with breathtaking views of the capital city.

Another recognizable architecture is the Arc de Triomphe.  It is very easily spotted because of it’s elaborate sculptured, massive arch formation.

Napoleon is one of the most famous French leaders, but he died while in exile on St. Helena Island in 1821.  His body was returned to Paris and a tomb was constructed shortly afterwards as a memorial to Napolean.

If you want a true “taste” of Paris, where fashion sets the standard for world fashion, and famous French cuisine to delight your pallete, an absolute must see before returning home is the Avenue des Champs-Elysees where you’ll find many excellent shops and restaurants.

And if you brought the kids with you on your Paris adventure, visit Euro Disney which is the premier European theme park that attracts millions of visitors every year.

My Favorite Vacation Destinations

Everyone has their favorite vacation destinations.  Whether it be memories of childhood vacations, or places as an adult you have visited.  I’m going to share with you my personal favorites.

I grew up where the ocean and the beach were within an hour or two of home.  So of course, some of my favorite vacation destinations are beaches.  Among my favorites is the western shores of Florida along the Gulf of Mexico.  Specifically, Sarasota, Florida.  The Gulf waters are a little warmer than the southern Atlantic, and are a beautiful turquoise color.  For the beachcomber, there is an abundance of sea shells to discover.  Travel a short distance to Sanabel Island where, being a beachcombers delight, you can do the “Sanabel Stoop”; being bent over looking and picking up the abundance of shells in every size and color imaginable.

Another favorite vacation destination is Banff, Alberta, Canada.  The beauty of the rugged northern Rocky Mountains in breathtaking.  In particular, Lake Louise, which is a glacier lake fed by the Victoria Glacier.  As you walk down the streets of Banff, you would think you had been transported to a small European town with its shops full of handmade goods, as well as fine china and linens and souvenirs.

These are a couple of my favorite vacation destinations.  At another post, I will give you a few more of my favorites.

In this article I will highlight the next 5 most popular vacation destinations.  As mentioned in Part 1, the months of May through September are the most popular months for vacation since they are the best warm weather months for just about any vacation destination.

6)  France:  The southern coasts of France are fabulous in the summer.  The sun shine all day, but temperatures are quite bearable lending a great time at the seashore.  You can tak advantage of the wide variety of activities scenic tours, walks boat rides and shopping.  And of course, one cannot think of France without thinking about the delectable fine foods from this country that will delight and tickle the taste buds.

7)  Singapore:  The summer months are warm but the humidity is not oppressive so enjoying a vacation in Singapore is nice.  During the summer there are many festivals and events that will help you enjoy the local culture.  There are also many oppotunities to taste the local foods through the local markets.

8)  Thailand:  Thailand has become a very popular summer vacation destination with unsurpassed natural beauty found nowhere else.  The beaches are wonderful and the locals are friendly.  It doesn’t take long before the easy going way of life rubs off on you, and relaxation is a way of life.

9)  Portugal:  A country that has plenty of sunshine and warm weather making it an ideal destination for sunbathing on the beach, or shop in the plentiful boutiques, and then take in the historical sites at a leisurely pace.

10)  Maldives:  This is a destination in the tropical Indian Ocean that is a not-so-well-known vacation destination, but is an absolute jem for luxury.  You can sail, scuba dive and sunbathe, or shop.  There are top fine dining restaurants to savor anything for the pallat, party all night, or just take in a few extra zeeez.

No matter where you decide to vacation, take time to enjoy it, and relax so you can return home feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Most vacations are taken between May and September since those are the most favorable weather months for many popular vacation destinations.  It’s also when most kids are out of school.  So in this first of a two part series, I will tell you about five of the ten most popular vacation destinations.

1)  Kenya:  If you are looking for a different destination, then Kenya just may be the answer.  Everyone should go on an African safari sometime in their life to enjoy the true ruggedness of nature and its beauty.  Kenya offers that, plus the wonderful indiginous food and culture.

2)  Egypt is a wonderful summer vacation spot.  There is plenty to do and see in this hot, arrid climate.  Visit the pyramids and explore ancient Egytian history.  Maybe even visit a museum where you might see on display, a mummy from thousands of years ago.

  3)  Bahamas:  The Bahamas is one of the best beach vacations you’ll ever have.  Between the white sands and clear blue ocean, your stress will just melt away.  It’s a great vacation for couples as well as families because of the variety of activities available.

In the next article we’ll list the last 5 of the most popular vacations destinations.

The answer to that question is: as many tropical vacation destinations as you can imagine!  All around the world there are tropical vacation destinations waiting to be explored.  It depends on where and how far you want to go.

If you look at the South Pacific islands, the more well known tropical destinations include Hawaii, Tahiti, and Fiji.  In that area, you can also include the coastal areas of New Zealand and Australia.  Consider also the Asian countries of Indonesia, Bali, and Thailand, just to name a few.

In the Central American region, you’ll find tropical destinations in Costa Rica, Belize, and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.  The majority of South American countries have coastal regions; countries like Peru, Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela.  All of which lie far south enough to have beaches kissed by warm, clear blue waters.

And then, of course, our own country has it’s own tropical beaches that are mostly found in Florida, where you can enjoy the turquoise waters of the southern Atlantic, or the even warmer currents of the Gulf of Mexico.  Either coast, you can enjoy warm tropical breezes with some of the whitest powder soft sand, and water that is clear and warm.

Where in the world would you like to go?  Hong Kong?  Greece?  England?  New Zealand?  Wherever you want to go, know that there is a very good way of getting there.  Did you know that discount luxury vacations, anywhere in the world, are at your fingertips?

vacations in MexicoDuring the last year, there was a lot of fear for travel to Mexico because of the prevalence of the H1N1 flu virus.  The U.S. Centers for Disease Control has reported this year, that the virus activity overall, remains low in the Northern Hemisphere, making it safe now to plan again for vacations in Mexico.

There are many wonderful destinations in Mexico.  But some of the most popular and prominent destinations are the coastal locations; Cancun, Cozumel, and Tulum.  The Mexican Tourism Board notes that air and cruise travel is on the rise again, and many tourist locations are offering great prices and discounts to help lure tourists back.

When you plan your Mexican vacation, it’s still wise to avoid border towns, like Tijuana, because of the problem with drug-war violence.  But the well visited and traveled tourist coastal areas are much safer.  Besides, they are also much more beautiful and offer SO much more.  Let your plans begin!

In the first two posts on U.S. vacation destinationsgreatest U.S. vacation destinations part 3, I highlighted the Northwest, the West, the Midwest, the far North and Northeastern states.  This post will highlight the mid Eastern and Southeastern coastal states.

One of my favorite destinations is our Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C.; the seat of our country’s government.  I grew up in the Virginia suburbs of Washington,D.C., so this area is near and dear to my heart.  There are so many monuments and historical sites, it would take several blogs to include all of them!  You will have to spend a large portion of your vacation in this area alone because of the hundreds of historical sites to see; Mt. Vernon, George Washington’s home along the Potomac River.  The Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the Washington Monument, the White House and the Nation’s Capital building, just to name a few of the hundreds of sites that come to mind.

Head south from Washington, D.C. into the coastal regions of Virginia and the Carolinas, and visit some of the most beautiful beaches in this country; Virginia Beach, Nags Head and the outer banks of North Carolina, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Venture further south into Florida where the water changes color to a beautiful light blue/green, to a clear turquoise the further south you go.  Florida offers you endless beach destinations on the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico side of the state.  Orlando is mid state and offers one of the premier destinations for Florida…..Disney World!  Visit the Everglades with its endless wetlands, where alligators and manatee thrive, along with countless other animals and water foul.  Go further south to Miami, where the “in-crowd” hangs out and night life is hot.  And then hit the Florida Keys, the southern most point in the United States; the home of Ernest Hemingway, and where the lifestyle is gentler and more laid back.

As you can see, the U. S. does have some of the greatest vacation destinations in the world.  And we just scratched the surface!!

In the first of this series, I highlighted U.S. vacation destinationsU.S vacation destinations starting in the Northwest.  We continue the journey across the United States.

In the plain states and the midwest you can find Mt. Rushmore, the St. Lewis Arch and the River Walk of San Antonio, Texas.  The heart of dixieland jazz is in New Orleans, home to the Mardi Gras.  Throughout the deep south are remnants of an era gone by, with many historical sites and restored plantations with their grand homes in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi, where the winding Mississippi River flows, and Charleston, South Carolina.

In the Ohio valley lies Nashville, Tennessee, home of the heart and soul of country music, and the famous Grand Ole Opry.  To the southwest of Nashville, visit Memphis, where you can tour Elvis Presley’s Graceland mansion.

Venture north to the Great Lakes states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota where water sports, including ice fishing, is the leisure time activity.  Or visit the Mall of America in Minneapolis.  For the race car enthusiast, be a part of the excitement and noise of the famous Indianapolis 500 auto race.

Head as far to the Northeast as the United States stretches, to Maine, famous for their deep sea fishing for lobster and other seafood delicacies, and you’ll find a myriad of fishing villages, lighthouses, and towns.  Begin to head south from Maine to the rest of the Northeast states and visit Boston, and  Philadelphia.  Visit Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed.  These are two of the main cities where our Revolutionary War began.  Visit New York City, with its glitz and glamour that dazzles the eye, and big corporations and Wall Street reside.  Visit the United Nations, and the site of the 9/11 attack where the World Trade Centers use to stand.  Take in one of the headliner musicals on Broadway.  And don’t forget to shop in the 5th Avenue fashion district!
